Privacy

This page explains what data this website collects and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past, because most of it is short.

What we collect

Curve File is a static website. There are no user accounts, no registration, no mailing list and no comment system that stores personal information. There is no database of visitors.

The information that reaches us is limited to what your browser and our hosting and analytics providers send automatically:

  • The page you requested and the time you requested it.
  • An approximate location derived from your IP address, at city or region level.
  • The page you arrived from, if there was one.
  • Your browser, operating system and screen size.

This is used in aggregate, to see which guides are read and which ones are not worth updating. It is not used to build a profile of you as a person.

If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write, and we keep it only for as long as it takes to answer you.

Cookies

This site sets cookies for two purposes.

Analytics cookies count visits and show which pages are read. They are aggregate, and they do not identify you.

Advertising cookies are set by third-party advertising networks. They may be used to show advertising based on pages you have visited on this and other sites.

This site displays advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

Some links to retailers on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Following an affiliate link may also set a cookie from the retailer or the affiliate network so that the sale can be attributed. Their privacy policy, not ours, covers what they do with that.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings, and most browsers let you refuse third-party cookies outright. Blocking advertising cookies does not prevent you from reading anything on this site: every guide is fully readable without them.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google Ads settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies used for personalised advertising through aboutads.info.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version is posted on this page, and material changes are described rather than quietly folded in.
